The easiest way to do this is through your hosting control panel if it is available. Cpanel calls it web protect. You just click on the folder you want to password protect and fill in the info. If this is not available for you there is a contribution that will work. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??

dowat Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 I tried doing this, but I found the easiest way is just change the permissions so that no one can access it on the web. This is really simple to do, just chmod to 700. I did this using an FTP program like WS-FTP. When you wnat to make changes using the admin area, just change the permissions to 777. When you're done change them back to 700. In WS-FTP you right click on the admin folder on your web server, select properties and make sure that the web and group permissions boxes are not ticked. Keeps it simple that way :D
ashleypb Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 THANKS dowat, my problem is now solved!!!! cheers :D :D :D :D !
