sidney Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/plugin/public_html/store/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. Hi I need the right number to set this to, Many thanks Sid
Guest Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Before installation you are suppose to chmod both catalog and admin/includes/configure.php to 777 so installation can write on them and chmod them back when installation is over The_Bear
siavash Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 what is the definitive best permission setting for the following files/folders: catalog/includes + files catalog/admin/ + files catalog/images catalog/file_name.php can you please use the table below: ________ Read__Write__Exacute Owner Group All Users Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
sidney Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 Sorry still do not get it , how can I fix the error problem on setup, Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/plugin/public_html/store/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. Sid
siavash Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 your catalog/includes/configure.php and catalog/admin/includes/configue.php need to be READ only. so right click on them and set the permissions to read only. or use chomd to do this. you get the error because these files are writable at the moment and this is a security problem! Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
sidney Posted August 7, 2004 Author Posted August 7, 2004 The folder Includes is set at 755 and the Includes/configure.php is set to 755, when I try to change and take the write off owner to 555 and Apply, when I go back to check the setting goes back to 755; 755 does not give Group or Public write access? What going on? Help, Sid
sidney Posted August 7, 2004 Author Posted August 7, 2004 Hi had to use the hosts c-panel to end up setting the permissions on the catalog/includes/configure.php file to 555, this seemed to work, still wondering why the FTP method did not, will look more into this, Sid :)
siavash Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 to manage my files i use my browser. i put ftp://mydomainname.com and there's a prompt to enter my ftp username and password. when you get there everything is exactly like your windows explorer to manage the files. you can move them around by drag and drop, rename files and folders, change permissions by right-clicking, etc. pretty easy. Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
