Trying to set up downloads from my site

Since I am extremely new to osC and the like, I really NEED some help.

 

I have gone in and configured the catalog to allow for downloads in configuration, but am not sure what I am supposed to do from there. I have seen posts referring to paypal ipn and other contributions, but don't know if I need them.

 

I need to be able to have cd's that I make to be shipped, and other items on my site to be downloaded. I already have 'free' shipping set and whatever else I needed, I just need help making sure that when they order the downloadable products, they are directed to the zip file.

 

I read posts about 'product attributions' but have not a clue how I would set that up either. I guess I really need some type of step-by-step help on what I may need to do.

 

ASAP..I have put this off long enough. tongue.gif

one more question, now that I am starting to get the hang of this....

 

where/how do I know if this is set ?

 

Make sure /catalog/pub is 777 and /catalog/download is 755
