Finishing Orders

My store is special purpose, in that it is exclusively used by students on a college. Thus they do not pay for anything via the store, instead I want to export store account data and let the college finances office handle it.

 

So for the most part, I have been ignoring the entire section on payment modules -not installed anything.

 

I notice however, that the orders table, has a column called orders_date_finished

which is always Null for me

I suspect that some special intereaction with payment modules is what would ordinarially change this stuff.(and a multitude of other things not so obvious)

 

So I ask, What is the standard interface/actions for a payment module?

I think I will need to build my own 'dummy' payment module to finalize orders in the system.....
