skins and permissions

Hi everyone,

just started using osCommerce today. Seems to work pretty well but I have a few questions:

1. I want to change the skin, so I'm guessing I have to modify the stylesheet. Is this correct?

2. I am trying to change the default text to reflect my own site. However, I do not have the right permission to write to the file (thats the error that comes up) How do I fix this?

I would appreciate if anyone would give me some tips as to how to get this up and running properly and as soon as possible.

Thanks

Cat

hey

1. yes stylesheet is probably the best and easiest way to change color scheme, font, etc. you might want to consider STS (simple template system) contribution as well

2. to use contributions: find the ones you fancy, download them on your PC, unzip and read the readme file and it tells you what you need to do. and ALWAYS BACK UP before doing anything

3. two good and important links to check out are perhaps: Knowledge base ( http://www.oscommerce.info/kb ) and wiki docs ( http://wiki.oscommerece.com/docs )

Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!

if you use windows right click the file/folder and set the permissions as required:

read, write or executable or a combination. or alternatively use chomd - i don't know much about this one tho'!
