secretuser Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Many states including Washington require sellers to impose a sales tax on shipping and handling charges for sales delivered within the same state, which is Washington state in my case. I encountered a problem in which the subtotal plus the sales tax plus the S/H charges didn't add up to the total amount. This is because the separately stated sales tax neglected to include the tax on the S/H charges. I did a search on this forum and did not find an answer to this question so I experimented until I found the solution. In case anyone else has this problem, you can correct this quickly. The fix on this is really easy. Go into the order total module and switch the sort order for the sales tax so that it comes after listing the shipping charges. Once you do this, the sales tax will include the tax on the shipping and handling and all the numbers will tie to the total.
Guest Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 I have my site set-up with the sort order you mentioned for canadian tax, but it does not work. Sandra
secretuser Posted September 9, 2004 Author Posted September 9, 2004 Please make sure that all your shipping modules in the OsCommerce admin are set to the correct tax class. You do this by editing the shipping module and using the tax class drop down menu. If you have properly set these, then I don't know what else I can say to help you.
