elaines1 Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Hi, I wonder if anyone has the time to take a quick look at our site and give me any comments. I am a complete newbie to php and shopping carts so the web hosting company has had to help me with a few things. I would really value anyones comments and suggestions. http://www.picturekeyrings.co.uk Thanks in advance Elaine ps please remember complete novice so don't no all the coding terms but learning slowly
bestspystore Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 It's pretty much a stock osC setup. Nothing flashy but simple and to the point.
Guest Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 You have to much white space to the right. You can center your shop and it will be more browser/monitor friendly check out this link http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,266 you can see how it looks Here Very simple to do
elaines1 Posted August 3, 2004 Author Posted August 3, 2004 Hi, Thanks for checking out the site. And for the feedback, very much appreciated. Regards Elaine
ohblah Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Yup, apart from the white space, the page seems to be sized for 640x480 ? I think it's fairly safe to asume the majority of your clients will have a min of 800x600 rez if not bigger. So, you can centre, make the table width=800 and also perhaps reduce the heading to the same, unless you want it to overshoot the rest of the page. I myself am a fan of a little bit more space between the elements, but the might be solved if you resize the table to 800 px instead of 600. My two cents  ---------------------------------------- One day I will be a newie no more
Ketu Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Your site appears fine (re: table widths) for me in firefox and explorer. If I were building this I would suggest putting the pay pal logos in a box on the side and looking seriously at getting your own domain name (as of 0910am EST, Tuesday Aug 3, 2004 picturekeyrings.com is available to register) and a proper hosting account. I would probably grab sportskeyrings.com, keyringshop.com and keyringstore.com too. -JD
elaines1 Posted August 3, 2004 Author Posted August 3, 2004 Hi, Thanks again for the information. As I mentioned in my original posting, I don't know any php and had my hosting service add a lot of the texts and things for me. So any amendments like the Table would be great but not sure if I would be able to do this as it would be changing the coding and I'm afraid I might make matters worse. I have noticed that when you first go to the site that it aligns any banners up to the right but when you click on an item or link it seems to sort this out and lines them up properly. I do actually own the 2 domains, picturekeyrings.co.uk & picturekeyrings.me.uk but not sure about doing the others just yet. We have it on a Proper Hosting company but the oscommerce seems to come up in the address bar after the web address. This is my first site with a shopping cart and hopefully its easy to use and people come back. Thanks again Elaine
