calculation of stock value

Hi,

i was wondering if there was a way of seeing total stock on hand (dollar amount) through the admin panel even if it was just per category.I dont think i need all the extra add ons like easy populate if i could just see the total value when i log into admin panel that would be fine.Just somewhere next to where it says total products in the category.so if i had 10 categories with 10 products and i had 10 quantity of in each and each item was worth $1 the part down the bottom would hopefull say

products 100

stock value $1000

any help would be greatly appreciated
