Guest Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 This is a request for some assistance with the "Multi admin with levels" contribution found at: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,2037  The contribution has much of the functionality that I want for the permissions in the Admin section of an osCommerce site. Especially the ability to selectively enable access to individual functions within the Admin panel. :( However, here are some problems with the contribution. ;) I'm not a PHP/MySQL programmer so I would not want to delve too deeply myself in correcting these problems. I would appreciate any assistance or suggestions from the many more talented people here. Problem1: The "Password Forgotten" function does not appear to email the password when requested. No email is received at either the site admin or the user's email addresses. This function will also automatically change the existing password to a randomly generated password. Problem2: When adding a new user, there is no method visible to specify the password. The system apparently just generates a random password. This might be OK if Problem1 did not exist. Currently there doesn't appear to be any other way to know what the password for the new user is. Some improvements that would be beneficial: 1. Separate the members and groups. Currently, both are accessed via the "Member Groups" menu selection. 2. It is more logical to assign permissions to the group and not require permission assignment to the individual user. When a user is assigned to a group the user should inherit the group's permissions. Thanks in advance to anyone that can assist! Quote
Guest Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Update: It appears that the lack of the lost password email is being caused by a malfunction in the site email module. I'm not able to get the 'Contact Us' module to send emails either. :( Quote
Guest Posted August 1, 2004 Posted August 1, 2004 Update again: My bad! I was just reminded, when reading another forum post, about the necessity for having a valid email address in the "Email Address" and "Email From" fields in the store configuration. Since the site I'm working on is still under development and doesn't have an "active" domain, I guess the email functions won't work. But, I'd still like to be able to specify the passwords for users and not have the 'Password Forgotten' function automatically generate a new random password. Thanks, Ken Quote
