Spice Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Hello ok heres the thing. I need to make registerd customers to be atlest 18 years of age. Since laws here says that I cant sell over the net to ppl under the age of 18. Im selling clothing and jewllery online. If the person is under 18 I need to somehow confirm that the parents or legal guardian has agreed on this online buy. Any ideas of how I should do? please help
AfterDark Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Well - how does one get a Credit card if they are under 18? They cant.
Spice Posted July 31, 2004 Author Posted July 31, 2004 So I need to get somekind of minimum age for registration.
Guest Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Afterdark, a person under 18 could have stolen a card and use, also people could use someone's card without their agreement, there are all kinds of ways to use a card which is not belonging to the user. Spice, there is nothing that is available to verify the age of a person who registers or enters your site, it is very much left to you to either trust them or put in a disclimer fron page html which explains the T&C's of the site usage.
Guest Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Yeah, if someone under age 18 steals a credit card and uses it to buy stuff online... the REAL problem is that they're shopping while under 18. :P Seriously, I'm pretty sure that there's no real way to verify that someone is at least 18. You just need to put a very conspicuous notice on your web site, maybe even a separate page where the customer needs to very deliberately select "Yes, I am 18 or over" from a pull-down menu or something before continuing. That obviously won't guarantee that nobody under 18 will use your site, but it will at least satisfy your legal requirement I think.
