Guest Posted July 29, 2004 Posted July 29, 2004 Does anyone have any idea on how to change the download folder location. i currently have my shopping cart on a shared server (ie: abc.com ) . I also have my own server hosting my abc.ca domain I would like to change where OS looks for the files (ie: my products sold in zipped formation 12345.zip) I want it to look for the downloads in www.abc.ca/downloads/12345.zip Also if it is possible to change the location that OS looks for the file. What about security on that folder? Any ideas or helpful suggestions appreciated.
Guest Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 you will lose all security if you do it that way, as you are going to different domains too many headaches to get it to work
jfrancisco Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Well one thing i could recommend you is to get a couple of copies of whatever you are going to sell and passoword protecting it if security is your issue. You could try and see if it works for you or use a CGi script that will only allow the person who submitted the account info to get his download.
MikeToddDTRPG Posted December 28, 2004 Posted December 28, 2004 I'm wanting to do something similar, but for a different reason. Our server gets hit hard daily, and to help balance the load we want to move the downloads to a dedicated download server. We want to do this in such a way that someone can't pass a download link to their friend and allow that person to download the file. So basically, we need the download server to be able to get the session information from the main server (unless someone can think of a better way of accomplishing this). During the installation we selected the option to save session data to the database, and the download server has access to this database. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. :) --Mike
