UPS xml address error

I am using the UPS xml contribution and everything works great except if a customer puts an invalid address such as Los Angeles, VA the order information does not process. What happens is that ups tries to verify this address but it does not exist so they direct the customer to an error page with just this statement at the top:

 

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/virtual/site14/fst/var/www/html/site/includes/modules/shipping/upsxml.php on line 774

 

Is there a way to redirect the customer to their account address page instead of this error page? Also, to prevent this, is there a way to check a customer address right after they create a new account with the store? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

This is my first time using osCommerce and they sure made it bare-bones, but all the contributions HELP A LOT! :D

There was a a fix posted for this contribution a few weeks ago that solved this problem. You may need to update your UPSXML.PHP.
