Hello i need help

My Problem is with the installation prosses be fore i start i am using IIS on XP Pro, with Mysql and PHP v5

My problem is during the instalation stage when i specify the host http:\localhost usernames and passwords and specify the rest then when i click continue all i get is NEW DATABASE underneath that is database import and it is blank.

when i dont specify a host it errors as you would expect so i guess its a problem trying to connect to the host

i have being at this for 3 days now with no luck and i am running out of ideas

Any Ideas any one I am a beginner

Many Thanks

why would you want to use IIS on XP? a bit tougher to setup. Better off using Apache.

in any case, what happens when you go to http://localhost what is displayed?

also, do not put in http://localhost for the location of the server, use just localhost

hi thanks for the help to your questions

Kepa to you question

i haven't, as far as i was aware the installation sets the database up for you and thats what it is not doing,

Mibble to you

tried apache first and i could not even get the installation to start so went to iis and got a little farer.

when i go to http://localhost i get XP welcome message telling me iis is running sucsessfully. and i have tried just localhost nothing still.

Thanks for all you help and more ideas please let me know and i refuse to give in.

Bill Gates will net get the better of me!!!! :D :P :D

you need to install mysql, then use mysql connector or phpmyadmin or the mysql prompt to setup a database.

mysql connector is located at the mysql com web site, and also there you can type in the word 'create database' for the search and you will find the proper syntax if you want to do it via the prompt.

phpmyadmin has a tutorial also.

(**) mod_perl 1.99_13 / PERL 5.8

(**) mod_python 3.1.3 / PYTHON 2.3.4

(**) mod_ssl 2.0.50

(**) mod_gzip 2.0.26a

(**) mod_fastcgi

(**) mod_security 1.8.2

(**) mod_dav2

(**) MySQL Datenbank 4.0.20d (Server/Clients)

(**) ZendOptimizer 2.5.3

(**) FileZilla 0.91b inkl. Admin-GUI

(**) Hamster Classic 2.0.5.5 (smtp-,pop3-,imap-,nntp-Server)

(**) phpMyAdmin 2.5.7-pl1

works like a charm, also it adds two databases one called test and the other one msql or so, just use the database test on setup and localhost as host, restart and everything should be ok

php 5 may give you some issues as the osc has not been tested on this, I think Harold posted about this one.
