Guest Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 First of all, thanks to all of you for letting me spy and suck up tips and suggestions to get my cart up and running. My knowledge of php is zero, html limited, but with your help my payment and shipping modules are working perfect. I have processed several orders already, I am updating every day. I did have an existing web site with an out dated shopping cart, which would not work with Authorize.net. My cart is trying to match to original web site as much as possible. web site: http://www.gardensoyvey.com/ shopping cart: http://gardensoyvey.com/catalog/ Next project: replacing the bitmapped default icons that come with osCommerce. I love the shopping cart over all, a terriffic solution for a green horn. Thank you, vielen Dank Wolfgang
ryanf Posted July 27, 2004 Posted July 27, 2004 my first tip is try not to match the other site. Neon green text on a black background is bad. It hurt my eyes looking at it. Its hard to read the categories on the left since the text and background are similar. Get rid of all the stock images and buttons as they don't fit your site at all. I think making the background white and changing the other colors will help your site termendously. Search for color wheel online and read about what three colors to use. Usually you take your main color on the wheel then the two complimentary colors that are across the wheel like a Y. Ryan If I was crafty, this would be a funny signature.
Guest Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Thanks so much, I guess I have my work still cut out. I agree about the neon color it came about using the file manager and pasting html text in the windows. Have to figure that one out, the default logos are as good as gone. My trouble is time, I am running the nursery, shipping plants, doing the web site and hold a regular night job. Thanks for your input. Wolfgang
ryanf Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 if you dont have a lot of time, changing the colors will help trememdously <-- sp? and will take little time to get right. All you have to do is change the settings in the stylesheet. Find info about the color wheel. Here is one I used: color wheel pro just download it and you get a trial period. Works great and you'll be done with it before the period runs out. Ryan If I was crafty, this would be a funny signature.
