I am using simplehost as my web host. That is where I got OSCommerece from. I set everything up and the only thing that does not work is Email. I wrote to simplehost and asked them to allow me to sendmail as "nobody" they have not responded at all. Is there any way to correct this in OSC? I have read about using pear and other things but my version seems to be different than others and can't tell which I am using. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks

I don't want anybody to think that I have not searched for this problem here and in the contributions. I have. I used the email test utility and that did not work either. I f some could tell me if there is a workaround or not that would be great. If there is not then I will look for another shopping cart script.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for reminding me about this problem!

I was also experiencing the problem of not being able to send mail from osCommerce using the sendmail function.

I believe the problem can be corrected if you do the following:

1. Setup an administrative email address for your domain. I'm sure this is possible even with your 'simplehost' hosting company.

2. Use the administrative email address in "Email Address" AND the "Email From" entries.

The sendmail function is probably checking the "From" address to see if it is a valid address for your domain. This is necessary to prevent abuse of the sendmail function.

Hope this works for you!

Aloha,

Ken

Another thing to try:

In the site configuration under "E-Mail Options", set "Use MIME HTML" to false.
