feelexit Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 i m using win 2k. after i installed oscommerce, got warning message, Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: D:/www/webroot/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file. how to set the permission on the file , so i can get rid of this warning message.
shootingstar Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 I am not sure if I know enough to be helping anyone else, but I changed my permissions in the following way. I don't know how your hosting company has you set up, but you should be able to go to your hosting company's cpanel or administration area, go to "file Manager", find and click on each of the following files/pages until you get to the configuration file. public_html/osCommerce/includes/config.php. Click on it to bring up the "Change Permissions". Disable the ability to write to file. You will need to change this permission again if you want to change anything in the configuration page. Hope it helps.
feelexit Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 thanx. acutally, I test it on my local machine. Heres how I set the permission. I right click the configure.php file.and choose properties, then click on "security" tab. I checked "read", and deny "write", so everything should be fine. and hten I reload hte index.php page, the warning message still there. dont know why.
siavash Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 feelexit, do the same thing that you do on your machine but after uploading the file. i use ftp in my internet explorer so you can see and manage all of your files just like windows explorer. this way with right click you wil see read, write and execute options for owner, group and all.. Did you try? Did you fail? No matter! Try again. Fail again! But fail better!
feelexit Posted July 21, 2004 Author Posted July 21, 2004 thanx. your answer is not wht i want. probably, I got you confused. I download oscommerce, and installed on my local machine. then i test it. http://localhost/catalog/index.php the warning message is there, even tho, i already set permission on hte configure.php file I am not talking about uploading files online
