Is there a global language variable?

Hi all

 

How would i go about changing this:

 

$filename = "./includes/languages/english/englishversion.php";

 

so that it instead looks in the folder for whatever language is currently in use, rather than only the english folder?

 

Is there a global variable i can use, or is it a bit more complicated than that?
