OK Ive hed this up and running awhile now. But I cant understand 1 thing why is it when I do a test purchase for myself,When it came down to shipping through the USPS my choices would priority at 3.95 or Parcel at 4.48 Shouldnt the parcel shipping be cheaper..checked out the USPS shipping on their site and the 3.95 for priority is right but the parcel comes up alot cheaper than 4.48...Is anyone else having this problem?

For technical questions, I only know of an email address: [email protected]

Of course you might try the main number, (800) 275-8777, and see what happens. They might be able to address this issue.

Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database.

Rule #2: Make sure there are no exceptions to Rule #1.

It's doing that because the usps.php module is hard-coded to treat packages as "Non-machinable", which results in a higher rate. The latest version of USPS Methods in the contribution area http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contri...all/search,usps supposedly deals with this.

In order to use the USPS shipping modules in osCommerce, you need a Web Tools account. The URL's in the documentation are incorrect as things have changed recently on the USPS web site. To sign up you need to go here:

Also note that the test system doesn't work with osCommerce at present, so you need to switch to the production system to get this working.

I have noticed this problem as well.... but I am having an issue with the weight of my packages... as I understand it there are 16 ounces in a pound... thus if I had my items in my catalog listed at lets say 0.8 it should be 8 ounces yes? well when I make an order for say 5 items that weigh 0.8 (half pound) and then I check out the USPS module comes up with 4.4lbs.... by my count 5 x 8oz is 2.5lbs.... whats causing this... I am about to update to the contrib mentioned above to see if this will work but PLEASE someone let me know

Wouldn't 8 ounces be 0.5 pounds?

0.8 is not 8 ounces, it is 0.8 x 16 ounces (1 lb) or 12.8 ounces which would make 5 x 0.8 = 64 ounces or 4 lbs. The other .4 lb. that you are seeing is probably because you have your shipping configuration set to add 10% for larger packages.

I am wondering why no one has changed the USPS module to change the % value you give it in the admin area to a ounce value like instead of showing 2.88lbs

(5 items x 0.5 each + 0.38 tar weight = 2.88lbs)

why not have it show

(5 items x 0.5 each + 0.38 tar weight = 2lbs 14oz)

I am in no way capable of this as I have a very limited knowledge of PHP and what not but I just think it would look better and be less confusing for admins and customers...

how hard would this be to accomplish?
