wiredmonkey Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Hi all, I have recently launched the site www.kaytech.com.au ... All is going great though I'd like to have my items appear in search engines. I know generic and popular items are very difficult to do but I have niche items such as microcontrollers, Inverters and gadgets. What do you all suggest is the best way to approach this? Thanks :)
Jack_mcs Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 Here are a few things you can start with: Add the code that will give your products their own titles. You have the same one for each product. There are several options but the only I can name off the top of my head is the Header Tags Controller contribution. You also need meta tags. These are not used (much) by google but are by other SE's so should be included. If you haven't done so, submit to Froogle. Your home page needs text. You don't have any, other than product description ATM. Google uses the body text, among other things, to determine the relevency of your site for a particular search. So you would come in low due to low text. In that text, you need to mention your search phase as much as possible without spamming. For example, you don't mention the word microcontrollers once on your home page so it is very unlikely that the page will show up in a search for that term. Take a look at your compitition and see what they are doing. Try running your site through an evaluator such at THIS ONE to get some ideas on what's missing.
