Paypal doesn't return confirmation

I'm having trouble with paypal. Every few orders are not placed in my database. I have backup code added to send me an email with the order when the customer hits the checkout confirmation page. But occasionally the order isn't placed in the database. I get confirmation from Paypal that I have received payment.

I had this problem and the only thing i can think of was that i negeleted to go to my paypal profile, website payment preferences and setup the auto return to website link. Let me know if this helps. I think that if the customer does not return to the website, then the order does not get put in the system.

This problem is caused by customers not hitting the final "continue" button when they pay you with PayPal. Auto-return will make them return, if they don't close out their browser, but it can be a security risk apparently.

 

You both need to look into a contribution that uses PayPal's IPN system. I recommend the one called PayPal IPN .981 by Pablo. It's relatively simple to install and will solve your PayPal problems.
