Looking for a mod

I have a website that, well......example:

On the product info page (not listings or specials):

Product: Pet Tub $329.00

Add to Cart

Products for the Pet Tub (Optional):

Pet Step - description - quantity box - add to cart

Casters - description - quantity box - add to cart

Grate - description - quantity box - add to cart

Faucet Kit - description - quantity box - add to cart

I want the customer to purchase the pet tub. But they can also check the box of additional products they want to purchase along with the tub.

My store has been heavily modified and I am literally scared to add another mod. I have looked at Master Products. I have been looking at it for days and read the 96 pages on the forum about the mod. My store has many, many hits a day. The only time I have to work on adding a mod is about 1 AM. At that time the traffic has dramitically died down.

I am not sure that Master Products is what I need. However, I know I need a mod to help display the additional products.

Advice is appreciated!

I know the feeling! :) I'd suggest that you upload a copy of your entire store (if that's feasible) and use that to "play" with. You can make a copy of the database as well, and test the mod out without disturbing your live store.

Thanks Mary and Scotte. My store is huge! How do I go about making a test copy of the store in phpMyAdmin?

Also, my question about what mod to use to get the effects I want on product info pages. Should I use Master Products to create what I want to do or another mod?

To copy a table in phpMyAdmin:

First, create a new, empty database. Then open your live database in phpMyAdmin and click on the first table (address_book) listed on the right (clicking either the icon or the name will do). Click on the Operations link at the top of the left frame. Scroll down to where it says Copy table to (database.table): . You'll see a drop box, a period, and a text input field on the next line. Select your new empty table from the drop box, and type address_book into the text input field. Select the Structure and data radio button. Click the GO button just under the text field you just filled in. You'll need to do this with each table in the database.

After you have copied all the tables to the new database, you just need to upload your cart scripts to a new folder and change the database and path info in the two config files.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Master Products contrib.
