mysqld
Hello, osCommerce is GPL software, and as I read from the older posts, all work (such as osc plugins, modifications and components) MUST be under GPL licence too. Is that correct? What is the status of the commercial plugins/components, developed from some companies? Are they legal?
♥ecartz
What is the status of the commercial plugins/components, developed from some companies? Are they legal?Probably. Three potential issues: 1. If they encode their PHP, they must provide the source as well. 2. They cannot add any restrictions to a buyer's right to distribute. I.e. if someone buys from them, the someone is then free to redistribute or contribute the code if they comply with the GPL. 3. They can't remove the osCommerce copyrights from the code. If you feel that someone is violating the GPL, please contact someone on the team page: http://www.oscommerce.com/about/team Hth, Matt Always back up before making changes. The_ancient
right GPL does not mean "free" persay.... you can charge for Software under GPL. Plus they only have to release it under GPL if it is a diriveted work of osCommerce if you write a Script that is In every way Seperate from osCommerce but interfaces with the Database directly, your not obligated to release it under GPL,
