changing date format

When registering an account can the date of birth be in DD/MM/YYYY format, as opposed to MM/DD/YYYY?

In DB customers table format is YYYY-MM-DD (default value is YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss). You can set it in includes/languages/english.php, look at here.
