HStrading
Dear Sirs, I am desperately looking for a specific newsletter add-on. I need at newsletter function, that will allow users to enter their mail adress i a field in the left or right colum - on the front page, that is. I have tried several contributions, so far - but i am getting tired of spending hours of installing - seeing how the contribution works, and then fetching my backup. All the contributions i have found, so far, all just links to another page - none of them allows the user to enter his/her mail adress directly on the front page. Can any of you tell me which contribution (if any) fullfill my wishes ? Sincerely, Henrik

HStrading
I'd hate to bump this post again - but i really need this contribution. Can anyone give a hint ? (promise.. i won't bump this post again)
Acheron
I have no idea if one exists but it sounds fairly easy if you have a pre-existing one that uses a new page w/o requiring signup. Just create an infobox form with a 'Submit' button instead of a link, doing whatever the new page was doing.

I can make a contribution work, and that's it :-) I cannot create one myself. I am pretty sure i have seen this on a few websites, although i cannot remember the sites names now, i was hoping someone had seen it too :-( Thanks for your help. vaughnn
Henrik, I am 70% into creating a contribution that will allow multiple newsletter types, and will include the ability to unsubscribe via email. When a user goes to the My Account page they will be able to see all valid newsletter types, and subscribe/unsubscribe to each one they are interested in, and they will have an option to subscribe to none, now or in the future. This may not help you, but let me know. Cheers, VB

Cheers, VB I dont think that is what he is looking for I beleive he wants VISTORS to beable to Sign up as well as Customers the easyest way I see for this to be done is to add a new table to the database and then at that to the query in the newsletter modual on the admin side this would also allow you to write a new newsletter module to only send letters to the vistors should be a fairly easy mod to write up, if I did not have a backlog of projects already I would do it real quick... That is correct, i would like everybody to be able to sign up to my newsletter, ONLY needing to enter their mail adress, in a field on the front page. (maybe the system needs to send a validation email, but it is not 100% neccesary). I know it might be simple to create, but i do not have the ability to create one myself :-( - So if anyone is thinking of making this, i would be happy to use it :-)

Guest
Hi, Add my vote - I too would love this functionality. I have been trying to get contrib #1678 working but it not as clean as what you are proposing. micro
Andrew J
Hi Henrik! Do you tried this contrib? Newsletter & Subscribers contribution I think this could be very useful to you. If not then maybe based on this E-Mail Address Collector contrib, somebody can make a contribution to fit your request. Andrew

Andrew Hello Andrew, yes i did, but i didn't like it. it just provided a link to another page, where the visitor/customer could sign up. What i'd like, is for the visitor/customer to able to sign up, solely by entering their email adress in a field on the front page. Thx anyway :-)
Andrew J
I recommend that you should start a new thread with this in the topic heading: Newsletter subscriber infobox for visitors, need a contribution or something like this.
GeekNerd
There are a lot of advantages to go to another page to ask a visitor to subscribe 1. you can require a subscriber to enter more information than just an email address (which might be wrong) if you want later to do geomarketing and gender analysis of you subscribers (not just your clients) you can get basic information like gender, country, city , age range 2. you can present different topics the subscriber wants to hear about and select 3. you can have a double optin to make sure the address is correct. If you just ask for an email address on a first page. 1. you loose all this detailed information 2. you do not have a clue where your subscribers are from and sometimes it is interesting to validate your marketing assumptions about your market. 3. you do not know what specific topic they were interested in when they came to visit your web site. thus after sending a few newsletters , you will see that impulse subscribers (just entering an email are the first to unsubscribe) and not to mention people who used another email address to subscribe to newsletters on behalf of someone else. (you want to make someone mad, just subscribe them to 50 sites requiring only an emaill address, you will see how they feel....) qualified leads who are very interested to receive information about a topic will not mind entering a few more nformation sure you will loose most of the impulse subscribers. but they are the one who will buy anyway. keeping and sending clear information to real subscribers create a community of true repeat customers who will buy in the future. you can as well explain on your subscription page how it works and how they can unsubscribe. All this is not possible with a one input field asking for an email address. people get so much spam email those days that they are very reluctant to enter their email address on every site they visit . (i know i don't, unless i put an hotmail address ). I do not know what the site is going to do with it and how will i be able to remove my email from a single input box. in your dreams
Yari
Yes of cource there is advantages to redirect the costumer to another page, but there is still alot of people that want's it on the front page. The advantage is that it's very easy for a visitor to sign upp for a newsletter if it's a small box in the left menu when they don't need to go to another page.
