ibjames Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 What do you do? I want to host this at home, but since it's a cable modem the IP changes once in a while. I tried to use my internal IP address as the server address, but when you click it from the outside.. it tries to use that address and you can't get any images or anything.. it looks like crap. At home though, it works like a charm..
Guest Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 if you host it at home on a cable modem, who is pointing to your domain, the dns server? or are you using a domain name? you would be better off getting a host, as there are some out there who are worthwhile with prices starting at $10 per month or so.
ibjames Posted July 2, 2004 Author Posted July 2, 2004 yes, I have a dns service provider I am currently hosting this page at my house. My Webpage I am using phpbb boards, which reference the external IP.. but when an IP changes I have to go into phpmyadmin and change an IP address in the tables. I was wondering if this is possible for OS Commerce or not?
1quicksi Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 If your hosting at home and do not have a static IP address you will need to use a Dynamic Domain Name Serverice such as TZO.com knowledge base | Contributions | Search
