Guest Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 WOW... I am impressed with OSCommerce. It has been fun getting my new store configured. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to setup an Admin password! I don't want the sneaks getting into my system. Any ideas? Thanks much!
Guest Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 you have a choice, use an htaccess file or look up in the contribution area for admin (do a search for the word admin)
peterr Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Hi, No matter whether you use .htaccess method or another, the connection you have is actually more important. That is, use an SSL connection (https) if at all possible, when using the "admin" feature. Just a word of advise about using "admin", DON'T run this: Tools Server Info because it will display your login username (["PHP_AUTH_USER"]) and login password (["PHP_AUTH_PW"]), not very clever thinking on the part of osC developers. :D That's why you _should_ use HTTPS only for "admin" or modify the code, so that the phpinfo(), plus the username/password aren't displayed across a connection that is not secure.
