adysheepy Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 Hi im using the ms2 version of os commerce and want the amount to be taken across to the paypal page. I dont use the ipn system as i cant see the advantage(invite for someone to tell me) All i want is that when they go from my site to the paypal page the amount from my page is sitting on that page. I realize there is a contribution for this but cant find it ? Ive read though lots of threads but ll seem to be interested in ipn system.

If you do not want to use the ipn contribution all you need to use is the default paypal module. Go to modules in the admin section of your site and click on paypal and install. The Knowledge Base is a wonderful thing. Do you have a problem? Have you checked out Common Problems? There are many very useful osC Contributions Are you having trouble with a installed contribution? Have you checked out the support thread found Here BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!! You did backup, right??
blucollarguy Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 IPN is an easy install and your website will automatically update all the orders and products. Less work for you. You will also have all PayPal info posted back to your site and readily available. If you want these things, they are great, if not, not. Good luck one way or the other! Happy Coding! adysheepy Posted July 1, 2004 Author Posted July 1, 2004 Can the ipn have the information sent to it so the customer does not have to type it out again and does the total amount go accross with it ? I thought the paypal standard module returned you to your site to update the order status and stock ? Also ive have the standard module installed and it is not carrying the payment amount over Thanks for all your help

The standard module will return the customer to your site only if they hit the continue button after making a payment, if they do not you will get the payment but have no idea what they ordered. I would use Paypal Shopping Cart IPN #1753. It will populate the paypal fields when the customer goes to the paypal site to check out, you will have the customers orders in your database even if they do not hit continue, it comes with excellant install instructions, and has a active support thread if you have trouble. I agree Richard. I also have been using the setting to "itemize" the cart which shows the full order contens during the payment process at PayPal and posts back what was ordered when the customer is returned to your site. "Your payment for 'whatever' products has been completed, would you like to be notified of updates to these?" Or something like that is what you get upon returning. It's great for the customers. I agree with Richard, you should install the IPN module if your going to use PayPal. Good Luck, Craig Happy Coding! Craig Garrison Sr Anything worth having, is worth working for.
