Most contribution installations require you to make edits to the files that comprise osc. Some also provide additional files that you must upload. Many also require that you run an SQL query against your database to add new fields and/or tables. Rule #1 for any changes you make to your osc installation is: Backup your files and database before you make any changes. Rule #2 is to make sure there are no exceptions to rule #1 Rule #1: Without exception, backup your database and files before making any changes to your files or database.
