agiftcodotcom Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 1) Do you have Meta tags on your site? 2) Make sure you use a good 'alt' tag in your title logo. Sometimes search engines will read your image as your first text, so you always want to make sure you use a good alt tag in your logo. Also, anyone viewing your site that is viewing impaired(sp?) and having a computer read your page will hear "osCommerce" as the first thing on your page since that is your logo's current alt tag. As you notice... osCommerce, My Account Cart Contents Checkout. Top ? Catalog ? OutdoorActivities ? 40461, My Account | Cart Contents | Checkout. Categories, ... ...is the top of your page. Google is reading from top to bottom, so give them something 'juicy' to read on top (meta/alt tags). Oh yeah, that'll be $499, just donate that to the OSC team members ;) Contributions I used : Updated 06-13-04 23:42 ---------------- Vote on My Graphis Poll
phatweb Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 I've got the addon that automatically creates the meta tags based on the item... so like if you go to http://www.magazines2u.com/product_info.ph...oducts_id=10103 which is reader's digest and view source the first thing you see is this: <html><head> <title>Readers Digest Magazine</title> <meta name="keywords" content="Readers Digest Magazine"> <meta name="description" content="Readers Digest Magazine - Reader's Digest provides practical news and information on a variety of topics including health, personal finance, parenting, current events, humor, and adventure. "> Not sure if that's good or bad... but that's what it is currently. Alt tags for my logo currently just says OsCommerce -- where do I change that? Can it show as the name of the item depending on the page you're looking at? Product image alt tags just say the product name. Is that ok?
agiftcodotcom Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Product image is fine, you want that to say the item. Not sure about a dynamic logo, but you can change the title in includes/header.php Just look for 'oscommerce' in the top of the first table.
