I got positive messages throughout the installation and all seemed to go well except I can't get beyond splash screens and no admin. All I get with most links is Page Not Found. I've tried to access the feedback but it takes too long to load. Can anyone shed light on why I can't move from splash to anything else? How do I access the admin dashboard? Mystery! Very excited to be getting this far though. Lorraine

Okay, I’m currently now using a new host for OSC4. It has installed and the admin area is fully accessible and I’ve connected to the app shop. It’s also generated the logs. The only problem remaining now is: THERE’S NO FRONTENDS! NONE, NADA! Both host and OSC notified, I hope once the last area demystifyed and resolved then the OSC4 journey can continue. It’s certainly a lovely looking admin area. Lorraine

Hmmm! It seems further tests have shown that the mod rewrite function with IONOS is not functioning/can’t get it to work on their server. Thanks very much to Andrei’s dedicated work in tracking this down. It seems I’m now left with the choice of having to choose another hosting company to host on my own with. Can anyone please provide any hosts that you have successfully installed and run OSC4 on? Thank you, Lorraine

Hmmmm it seems that many files and folders are simply not being generated/installed at all and this is leading to the 500 errors. No file/folder actually there …

Oops found the local configure file and this is written to with correct values so I think okay.

I also notice that none of the configure files seem to have the correct values. Just defaults. In the past I know this has been very important for things to work. It seems no values written in?!?

Just tried a new installation on root of hosted server (Ionos) as usual all went well until the end. No green header just a button to complete installation and when I do I get a 500 server error. Splash page but NO ADMIN!. Clicking on anything beyond splash page gives the 500 server error. See screenshots attached. I really need to get this working. Lorraine

I have worked through multiple installations today either no installation is possible from the directory I choose or the exact same problems occur that I flagged in the previous link above (now deleted). I get no errors throughout… When I press Complete Installation it goes to the splash screen. Pressing Admin or going deeper on any splash screen just gives a not found page. Looking at the admin/includes/configure file shows it hasn’t been written to just default settings not the details I entered. I have no idea why? I can’t resolve it or post any errors because there aren’t any. I’ve never had this happen before, old OSC installs normally. Complete failure

Looking at my configure file in admin it seems no data has been written in it’s still the default … I really don’t know why this is happening? How do I move forward?

Please note I have discussed this with the host they have suggested I create a new folder and then assign a domain to it. I have tried installing directly to the root with no changes etc. I have removed the shopBlank folder completely. I was hoping someone with IONOS could shed light on why the installation doesn’t work. The old OSC worked perfectly every time. I don’t know what is wrong? I’ve never had this problem before, surely it should just install as before? I really don’t know what to do. There doesn’t seem to be any help I can use.

Is anyone else out there hosting with IONOS? Have you got it to work? If so could you tell me how? All I’ve had is splash screens that don’t work, no admin access, or simply won’t install at the location.

Just spent many more fruitless hours on several installs with exactly the same issues. Host says because it's a third party package then they can't support it. The only thing they have suggested is to assign a new domain to the folder and go from there. I changed the name of the admin folder but nothing works at all, tried from root, same issues and it won't even install. It seems there is nothing I can do to make it work.

Is anyone else here getting the same impression? That installing yourself has been made impossible!?!? I never saw a single problem or error message all the way through yet the test shops don’t work and there is no Admin. The old oscommerce never failed to install perfectly every time.

Another complete waste of time. Once again there is NO ADMIN interface at all. I got no errors at all all the way through but exactly the same issue again, Why is there no admin interface? Is this to make us abandon hosting ourselves. Totally annoying.

Please note I would never allow unauthorised access to my server so please don't ask again. I'm happy to send screenshots and get my host to advise. Just going to try again. I've never had any issues before with old OSC

Okay I’ve just seen that the new release is out. Very much looking forward to getting going with it. I hope it installs …

Have the installation issues been fixed? I’m keen to get going but don’t want to be stuck doing endless failed installations again. Please advise. Is OS4 now officially released?
