@VladMalThat's disappointing. There is still a large number of shops using the old version and they may not be ready to move to V4 yet. I think they will feel abandoned. And the older versions are still considered Oscommerce. Just my opinion but I think deleting those was a mistake.

Today I decided I got angry for the last time updating a table rate based module. Afer several tryouts to change the shipping rates just to see I had a typo in the values string -damned colons- and having to manually calculate the net prices for each row from the gross that came from the table provided by the courier... I had enough and modified the table rate module to show a real table where you can see what you're doing. Uses some javascript to update net/gross, add or remove rows and do some basic checks. It can be adapted to any other module that uses the same system. Note: The net pice is caclulated based on the tax class from the module. It will apply only to the countries in the module's zone and it's not savet to database but calculated on the fly. For this column to work you need to set up the tax rate first, save and enter the module configuration again. osCommerce v4 is coming with support for Multiple Design Templates and built in Template Builder. Template management doesn't require any PHP coding, and is done via the back end of the website. It is possible to create, import, and export multiple design templates. This opens ways for professional designers and developers to offer their osCommerce templates for sale in the future App Marketplace - announcements to follow. Design templates are managed and modified via the back end of osCommerce, using a special built in Designer. It is possible to edit template settings in several ways (visual editor and CSS editor). It is possible to add, move, and delete various widgets from any page of the osCommerce website. Additionally, all documents (invoices, packing slips, emails) can be edited if required. It is also possible to create copies of the existing pages. For example, there can be 2 or more product pages, and different products can be assigned different designs of the product page. Support for Responsive design is implemented, as well as an additional optional Mobile view for each template. I distinctly remember Vadym promising me when we skyped about V4 that the Addons for legacy osCommerce versions would remain accessible. They were available from a subdomain called apps.oscommerce.com, (previously addons.oscommerce.com). apps.oscommerce.com is now being redirected to app.oscommerce.com. It is therefore reassuring to know this content has not been deleted. I don’t quite follow the issue of it being technically impossible to keep “apps”operational on a LINUX server given subdomains can have their own PHP environments defined. Albeit the similar names would be confusing. Reverting to addons.oscommerce.com would be more workable. But if it is impossible then I suggest they be loaded to a new domain alltogether. I am happy to hand over ownership of oscommerce.cc for that use. We can imagine cc to mean community contributions, a nod to their original name. I should also point out that, apart from the fact people do need them, you use their existence in your marketing. You cannot claim to have 9,169 Addons for legacy osCommerce if they in fact no longer exist.

Are you kidding ???? Have you removed all the apps that the community has produced over the years ????? But who gave you this right ????? You bought the osCommerce brand and NOT THE WORK THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE have done over the years to support a FREE platform. Give us back all the apps and old versions. At least put an old version that you can consult

It seems like every other question posted nowadays is about how to upgrade an older version of oscommerce and the op usually references the official version. This post is meant to provide a quick reference for how to convert an older shop to the current, recommended, one. First, the version that should be used is commonly called the Bootstrap, BS or Responsive version. It can be located here. One should not use the official version. The official version can be installed via the hosts control panel so it is easy to think that is the one to use - it is not. Since the BS version is not directly compatible with other versions, the following steps will be needed: Install the BS version into a new location Convert the database. See this thread for help with that. Install whatever addons the site needs. You need to be sure the addon will work with the BS version. This thread mentions specific ones but there are many others that will work. If in doubt, ask in the support thread for the addon in question. If you intend to use paypal, then install the Paypal App. At this point you should have a working shop. Test it thoroughly, especially the payment and shipping modules, before going live with it. When you are ready to go live, Mark your current shop as down for maintenance ( a simple index.html file is fine for this purpose ). Make a backup of the current shops database and files. Convert the database to the BS version. Replace all of the files with the new shops files. Edit the configure files so they work as the live shop. Remove the blocking page. If everything has gone correctly, the conversion should be complete.

Create an archive area and not destroy 20 years of history.

+1 with @Jack_mcs Place the old addons in an archive area accessible to those who will not be able to quickly upgrade to V4 due to the absence of addons specific to their countries, like France for me. Otherwise you will very strongly limit the distribution of V4 😞

Slim-Checkout Common opinion is that the checkout process should be as "slim" as possible. This means to hide all page elements which are not strict necessary to show to the customer a simple clean layout, so nothing disturbs his attention from the purchase process. You can then try resending an IPN from your Paypal account (finding it is tortuous): log in to PP, hit cog > Account settings scroll down to website payments on left menu choose Update next to Instant Payment Notifications in the middle of the first line of text, hit the link IPN History page This shows you a list of IPNs, defaulting to the last 24 hours - change the period if necessary and select one to resend [fingers crossed]

So not everyone is happy to edit files in order to make changes ( “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”) Not a problem just use this header_tag add-on and you can select the required theme in admin. It's about as simple as i can make it. Any other changes are down to the user. A new version has been uploaded with these changes: Added a version for Phoenix. Added an option to allow controlling which categories are displayed. Added a module for sub-categories. Added a module for categories with product pages. Changed install text to mention the equal heights addon. Corrected mistake in the module that was storing some of the settings in the wrong place. Corrected mistake in the css that would prevent other css from working. Moved the css code from user.css to the ext/css/category_images,css file. Replaced unused variable with the correct code. I think it would be great to make a package (called frozen 2 or as you like) that has the new admin of @shetch and the Frozen version with its bug fixes so that new users can download them in one place. What the community lacks are periodic updates to show that the software is alive. I do not know if this is the best place to post it, but the work of @shetchis fantastic, it's the cooler in oscommerce for a long time and it would be great to integrate it into the Frozen package. Now that oscommerce community version allows more an more addons with no core code changes I feel an uploader/installer would make things simpler and also help a lot those newcomers that does not have the knowledge to ftp files. We don't have a repository adapted to it, but we could ideate a simple system that allows to upload a zip file by browser, uncomprees it, do some preliminar checks like if the addon is currently installed and is compatible with the system and with copying files/making registry entries when user press "install". Been playing with the idea of something like the paypal app updater and came up with this: Would like to get feedback from developers about it. It would need, of course, that developers agree with packaging the addons with a certain structure and provide with a file that performs the tasks. Do you consider interesting to make a similar system?

Menu is a totally new concept in osCommerce v4 that comes built in and "out of the box". Instead of website menu being effectively a copy of the category tree in previous versions of osCommerce, in version 4 we have created a totally separate entity for menus, which can be embedded into any part of any page. And so, Menus are managed from a special section of the back end: You can switch between different menus existing in the system or create a new one. It is possible to export and import menus, to move them between websites. A menu is a list of a tree of choices. Each menu item can have its own name, link (if not predefined link to one of the website's pages), and style class: So, it is possible to rename categories as they get added to the menu, or even have the same category more than once in the menu. Besides categories and brands, It is also possible to add links to website's pages (like Shopping cart, Contact, etc), to the content pages (like About, Privacy policy, etc), or to a completely random URL (custom link).

To me, the most important question is why @osCommerce-Officialrefuses to make appearance here? @Harald Ponce de Leondid the same thing and we all know what came of that.

The idea of DEMOS is great but to sign in and have a private viewing is crazy. A link to a dedicated page with sign in would have been better as allocated time is not possible for all. I don't understand the secrecy......

This addon allows the easy creation and handling of pages from within admin as well as a way to manage text on any page in the shop. It is based on the Information Pages Unlimited addon that has been around for years. While much of the code is different in this version, I wanted to keep the compatibility with the original version, thus the similar name. NOTE: There are three sets of files in this package, for different versions of oscommerce. The BS version is the only one that has all of the new features. The other two versions are improvements over the original code but nowhere near that which is in the BS version. So any instructions or descriptions may apply to the other versions but are mainly meant for the BS version. This version fixes many coding mistakes in the other version and adds many new features making it easier to use and more powerful. Some of the features are: - Has a Box ID setting that allows you to control where the link to the page shows up. So, for example, if there are four footer modules installed, each could have links specific to them. - A link can have sub-links (currently only available in the included module). So there could be a main link for widgets and sub-links for various kinds of widgets. There are two advantages to this: first, it takes up less room when there are many links and, second, the search engines will still be able to get to the pages.- There is a quick view button to allow displaying the page in a browser to check the changes. - There are quick fill options that allows categories and products to be added to a page with just a short statement. For example, if your site sells automobile parts and you are creating a new page about tires, you just need to type in PNAME(tires)PNAME and links for all of the products in your shop with tires in the name will be added to the page. See the Notes section on the editor page for additional methods. - Allows setting the browser title and meta tags while editing the page in admin (only if Header Tags SEO is installed).

A new version has been uploaded with these changes: Added gtin as an identifier. Added code for Phoenix compatibility. Installation just requires the files to be uploaded for Phoenix. Changed count code to pass php 7.3. Found by member @yahalimu. Changed default http to https in the googlefeeder file. Removed the code to check if mysql is being used. Mysqli is now required.

If you buy an addon you are buying software without instalation service. Each addon package includes instructions for instalation. However you’ve got free support through 20 mails including one free customization and advices for problems unrelated with the purchased add-ons. You have never engaged me any job and didn’t pay for any request.

I just quote from google All what google says is they recommend or say it is good practice to make the URLs read-friendly so that customers/users can read or use the URL as link or navigation guide. It doesn't say one word that it will improve your SEO because of that. Google just says you should keep it organized. Another quote Again, no mention of SEO benefit. Visitor friendly does not equal better SEO or SEO results. Lastly, everyone can do what they want with their shop site it is their website and they should know what their customers might want. Look at Amazon, eBay or some other big shop they all have different URLs, some long, some short, some easier to read, some are super long and complicated. Important is that the "real" SEO stuff in your shop is working as it should then you'll end up getting good search results. So what @burt said isn't wrong at all. User friendly URLs have nothing to do with SEO.

This addon minifies the shops css file. If multiple files are selected, it will combine them all into one file. This can reduce the time it takes for the shop to load. Depending upon the size of the css file and how many there are, the page load speed can be reduced by several seconds. It works in any oscommerce shop. For the 2.3.4 shops (both official and Responsive versions), the installation just involves uploading files. For older shops, one change may be needed.

@raiwa Well done! We appreciate all the hard work you put into your addons and projects but please do me a favor and don't work too much/hard. In the past I/we have lost 2 very good friends from this forum and the last thing I remember was, they were working hard on some addons/projects and it could have been just mere coincidence or just fact that they overworked themselfs till their body gave up. You maintain multiple addons, you work with me on the Point and Rewards module, Sloppy words cleaner and, and, and.... Long story short, watch your health and take enough rest so that we will be able to enjoy you and your work for many years to come. That goes for all of you out there. osC is nice and all but it won't bring you anything if you work yourself to death. Now back to work....

So the old version is.... blah, blah, blah. We get it, we know that. The new version is... blah, blah, blah. Still get it, still know that. So the >v4 addons are gone because the old version is... or is it because the new version is...? Makes no sense either way. There actually are users that actually realized the old version's of osCommerce were at EOL status, many who were probably weighing business decisions on how and when to change software. Some of those many users were probably keeping an eye on the new V4, waiting until they feel they can change and build up to meet their shops already existing requirements that there existing osCommerce shop has been customized to meet. Do you not realize how many existing users may want to look back at the old contributions they have had installed through the years? Maybe they have an issue and want to see the original code for debugging, upgrading it to work on modern server setups, etc; Maybe they want to see what it would take to "modernize" an older contribution, or completely make a new addon based on just the "idea" of an old contribution. Anyway you look at it, you alienated countless established users when taking down the old addons. You can repeat how the old version is "...", and the new version is "..." all you want, it doesn't help. People here are not dumb, they're smart enough to already know that. They're smart enough to make changes when their business allows, and they're also smart enough to find another software that will meet their business needs when the time for that change comes. Now all that was primarily the shop owner point of view in me. So how about the developer standpoint? With a quick look, on the surface, the new code shares a lot of the old code. Even makes use of a modified theme system that was an old addon, looks like maybe BTS? or something similar. So that says, hey I can take some old addons, redevelop them, and release them as new addons! But, maybe like, y'know, Holbi had the same idea. So lets just cutoff access to all those old ideas and maybe release the most popular as new and improved paid addons! You have every right to do it too. I feel like your going to push more away than you attract by removing the addons. Such a nonissue just to restore them, such a shit move not too. And believe me, people who know who I am, know I am all too familiar with shit moves and osCommerce. Either way, best of luck.

Thank you for your input guys. There has indeed been some delay in development, which has now been resolved. Will keep you posted about the release of the new version in due course.

This is the support thread for the Customer Service Portal https://apps.oscommerce.com/xihXD&customer-service-portal The primary goal of the Customer Support Portal is to allow osCommerce shop owners to allow their employees to work on order fulfillment and customer support inquiries without having to allow direct admin access. Additionally it serves as a full fledged order placement system that will work with a shops existing payment methods, as well as a couple of new payment modules that could be useful in case alternate means of payment processing are desired, or in person cash sales are needed. The Customer Support Portal also allows a true guest checkout option. No customer is created if this option is used. All customer information is stored only in the actual order information. There is a quick link in the Customer Portal Header menu that allows guest orders to be viewed separately from the rest of the store orders. Please note that in the ht_customer_service module settings there is an email field to fill out, by default it uses the store owners set email address. This email is used for certain functions within the Customer Service Portal, such as a placeholder email in guest account creation. It will always be populated on the guest customers information field, just to skip the additional step of gathering an email address from a guest. Whenever done with guest accounts, or even logging into an existing customers account always go back to the dashboard. This resets the session for that particular customer. If you are in a customers account, then you have to take on a session allowing you to access their info, the dashboard kills any sessions that are not related directly to you the customer service agent. If you are using the cash payment option, you will need to adjust the sort order of you order total module sp that the order totals and cash back amounts are computed correctly. There are howver 2 issues I am aware of. 1) If a product in the cart has attributes, the update quantity field wont work properly. If a different quantity is desired, just delete it and add the correct quantity from the product listing itself. 2) I have not noticed this until testing on PHP 7.0, when using the cash payment option, the update button needs to be clicked twice. I've updated the module to version 1.0.13 to remove a potential SQL injection and tidy the account saved cards display when there are multiple cards (thanks @Smoky Barnable). @mhsuffolk I'm afraid the current version does not support Apple Pay, etc but looking at the Stripe documentation, it does not look too difficult to add. It just involves adding an extra HTML element to host a 'Payment Request' button which is displayed for certain compatible browsers, and some javascript and server code to support the creation and processing of a 'PaymentRequest' in a similar fashion to the handling of the 'PaymentIntent' in the current version. I'll add it to my list of things to do.

This addon is a direct replacement for the content section in admin->Modules. My content section has too many modules to deal with so I wrote this to allow displaying them via tabs. There is a similar addon by piernas but it is much more detailed and, for me, doesn't make dealing with the many modules in my shop any easier. This compatible with all oscommerce shops that have a Content section in admin->Modules. A screenshot is included.

Advice to use a file compare is good advice. Otherwise, how can anyone write an install...as almost all shopowners have different versions of osc running or have not stuck to the idea of "no core changes" and so on. Put another way; addon makers would spend all their time writing installation instructions for 1000 different shopowners...

My ethos is; Make it very simple for the customer to do things. As far as a checkout goes, what can be more simple than; login > choose shipping > choose payment > review order > complete It has been proven many times that a bite-size of cake, followed by a bite-size of cake...is far better than ramming a whole cake down ones throat. What I would like to see [in CORE]...which is sort of related... On shopping_cart.php a summary (estimated) shipping price, (estimated) taxes and so on. So they see their grand total prior to starting a checkout.
