Required Fields Help

Hi

I know you guys get this question all the time and I have read through posts and answers but I still cant find where to change things like telephone number to not be a required field. I have left the minimu values blank as suggested but i want to remove the red writing that appears on the create an account page saying required as well.

Please be gentle, im only new and I have had a go and trying suggestions. This is all the info on my english.php page if this helps

have a look at catalog/create_account.php line #460 contains the span class for the red text but you may want to remove the check for this field as well which is line #153 to #157

For anyone still getting the javascript error (...must contain a minimum of 0 characters), I fixed the javascript instead of going around it.

Find this javascript function in includes/form_check.js.php

function check_input(field_name, field_size, message) {

? ?if (field_value == '' || field_value.length < field_size) {

On the second line, add: && (field_size > 0)

So the function will look like this:

I have been trying to get the dob field to not be required as well. I have read all the posts that explain how to do it, but i can't. When I go to Administration - Configuration - there is no area that says Customer Detail. I only have these selections:

My Store

Minimum Values

Maximum Values

Images

Shipping/Packaging

Product Listing

Stock

Logging

Cache

E-Mail Options

Download

Can anyone help?

That's strange, "customer Details" appears between "Images" and "Shipping/Packing" in mine.

Can you have a look at your database and see if it appears in the configuration_group table?
