notubes_pete
Now with the new rates any box over 1728 cubic inches and is shipping priority but is going more then about 800 miles away has to use dimensional weight. But if the box is light but big this can be a big problem # Parcels addressed for delivery to zones 1-4 (including local) that weigh less than 20 pounds but measure more than 84 inches in combined length and girth (but not more than 108 inches) are charged the applicable rate for a 20-pound parcel (balloon rate). # Parcels addressed for delivery to zones 5-8 that exceed 1 cubic foot (1,728 cubic inches) are charged based on the actual weight or the dimensional weight (as calculated in 123.1.4), whichever is greater. # For keys and ID devices that weigh: * Up to 13 ounces, refer to retail First-Class Mail parcel rates. * More than 13 ounces but not more than 1 pound, $5.30. * More than 1 pound but not more than 2 pounds, $6.00. # $4.60 is charged for matter sent in a Priority Mail flat-rate envelope provided by the USPS, regardless of weight or destination. # $8.95 is charged for material sent in a Priority Mail flat-rate box provided by the USPS, regardless of weight or destination. Since I ship almost exclusively USPS priority, I too am wondering how to deal with this since I offer products that can ship in 8x8x32, 44, 56, and 68" packaging. It makes for issues when using USPS methods as the sole solution.
notubes_pete
Here is the help file from USPS it mentions using dimensions. http://www.usps.com/webtools/htm/Rate-Calculators-v1-2.htm. Can we integrate this so it uses the same size variables as UPS. Basicly if you add up the cubic inches for all the product in the chart and divide by 3 and enter that number in to the length width and hight UPSP should give you the correct price. The problem i see is trying to set the size to large. Defined as follows: · REGULAR: package length plus girth is 84 inches or less · LARGE: package length plus girth measure more than 84 inches but not more than 108 inches · OVERSIZE: package length plus girth is more than 108 but not more than 130 inches. For example: <Size>REGULAR</Size> whiteSpace=collapse enumeration=LARGE enumeration=REGULAR enumeration=OVERSIZE Value must be numeric. Units are inches. Required when <Service>PRIORITY</Service> and <Size>LARGE</Size>. For example: <Width>5.5</Width> minExclusive=0.0 totalDigits=10 Value must be numeric. Units are inches. Required when <Service>PRIORITY</Service> and <Size>LARGE</Size>. For example: <Length>11</Length> minExclusive=0.0 totalDigits=10 Value must be numeric. Units are inches. Required when <Service>PRIORITY</Service> and <Size>LARGE</Size>. For example: <Height>4</Height> minExclusive=0.0 totalDigits=
